…Goodbye Australia’s industry.
It’s a rare day that I am so angry that I am speechless.

I don’t believe in political assassination.

I don’t believe in political assassination.
I don’t believe in political assassination….

Oh no! What have I missed? I rarely watch the news… nor do I read the news. So tell me, what have I missed?
Oct 12, 2011 @ 17:04:34
Hello Our Susan,
Here it is as brief as I can manage (which you know.. probably won’t be so brief…)
The carbon tax legislation has been approved through the house of representitives. This, despite Gillard promising we will not have a carbon tax, despite there being absolutely NO science to prove it will make one bit of difference to climate change, despite it being against the will of the majority of Australians.
What does that mean? Well, have you noticed that just about nothing is made in Australia anymore? That’s because unions have gone so completely over the top that our labour market is not even nearly competitive with other countries. Now, on top of that disadvantage, industry will have a tax imposed based on the tonnage of carbon produced. Not just any ol’ tax, but a tax higher than any other country, of the crazy people who have signed on for this ridiculous idea (and that would be… ah… us, and the U.K.) America declines until something is done about developing nations.
Why would America decline? WELL!! What do you think is going to happen when all our industry moves off shore, or worse, simply collapses? The slack will be taken up by countries like China and India, who don’t give a brass razoo for climate change, real or imagined.
So the end result… is that exactly the same pollutants will be in the air, but they will be making another country rich instead of us.
Putting it in to more simple terms yet (not because I think you need it, darl, but because now I’ve started…
) we will be paying through the nose for everything we buy/use. We will paying extra again for the “compensation” packages for low income earners, of which we can expect an exponential increase as unemployment soars, as industry moves/ cuts back/ closes down.
There will need to be a whole new government department to administer this tax. More cost. And for what??!?!? There is not so much as a vague idea that it will make one little degree drop off the thermometer.
It’s too stupid an economic move to allow me to think of it without blushing.
GRRRRRR….. (um, or growling.)
The end.
Oct 12, 2011 @ 17:14:49
Aha righto, I’m with you know. And I do appreciate the rant or explanation because, as you know, I am not all that knowledgable when it comes to political matters. I have heard my dh raise the same issues you did… with the same vehemence!
You might remember that I used to be a Labor gal (when we’re talking in terms of Labor vs. Liberal) but that changed when a certain female figure did a fabulous job of back-stabbing, deceiving and usurping the PM of Australia.
Yes, yes I’m with you now. Sadly. (sigh)
Oct 12, 2011 @ 17:25:56
(Laughing!)
I wouldn’t have held back on what I really thought, if I’d known you’d changed your jersey…
Oct 13, 2011 @ 08:14:57
Oh, once that certain PM is out of her seat then my allegiance will change again.
Sounds wishy washy? Some people have a cunning ability to use too much of their delegated (cough cough- stolen) power. As soon as she is out- I’ll take another look at them.
Oct 13, 2011 @ 08:28:23
A die-hard socialist, union girl, hey? Well, good thing you have so many other stirling qualities.
xx
Oct 12, 2011 @ 13:12:30
I was anticipating a nice big rant Mrs BB, but it seems you truly are speechless aren’t you?
That picture really says it all!
Oct 12, 2011 @ 17:11:52
Oh, Amy. It honestly makes me writhe.
Even if I did believe it would make a difference (I don’t, not for a nano second), what a ridiculous time to bring it in – when the country is still reeling from the GFC, and the flooding.
What could they possibly be thinking? (Apart from,” Hehehee.. just another little step achieved on our socialist ladder!” Down with the Capitalists! – which you know they are thinking, the rotters!)
Oct 15, 2011 @ 11:18:09
I feel much better now, after reading your lovely response (mini rant?) to Susan.
For a moment there I thought I might just have to have a rant about it – but you have saved me.
“”So the end result… is that exactly the same pollutants will be in the air, but they will be making another country rich instead of us. “”
Very well said Mrs BB!!
Ridiculous is the word.
Oct 15, 2011 @ 18:54:03
Hmmm, it would almost have been worth holding my tongue to hear my gentle Amy let loose.
Oct 12, 2011 @ 19:12:15
Sadly the picture is too true!! Don’t forget that from 2014 the price goes up by 4% per year + inflation. It has been a sad day today.
have avoided watching the news tonight as I can’t stand to see the gloating from the ALP and of course the real PM , Bob Brown!!
A well written rant,
Kathy Coard (Aussie Homeschool)
Oct 12, 2011 @ 19:45:51
Kathy, yes, that built in little gem to allow the government to steal more and more and more money from its people. Was there ever a sneakier plan?!
And Bob Brown… Ugh! I often wonder if Gillard, while smiling about being Australia’s first woman PM, doesn’t ever blush for shame for being such a puppet!
Thanks for coming by to share my angst today!
Oct 13, 2011 @ 06:58:04
Of course there is hope of her demise today if the equally ridiculous “People Swapping” vote goes against her! There might be a move against her leadership and maybe the CT bill could be stopped before going to the senate.
Oct 13, 2011 @ 07:55:53
Kathy, we can live in hope.
Oct 12, 2011 @ 21:47:34
Love your work Mrs BB and your words! I agree with everything that you’ve written here…btw, where did you get that pic from??…I’d love to post it on my FB….
It’s a sad day for this country
Oct 13, 2011 @ 07:54:19
Hi Lisa, I can’t claim the pic, and don’t know who to credit it to. It was sent to me by my (staunch labor voting!) Mama.
Oct 13, 2011 @ 18:32:03
Totally. Utterly. Completely. Agree. The picture says it all. Well done Mrs BB.
Oct 15, 2011 @ 18:54:52
Thanks for coming by Daughter of Eve. x
Oct 14, 2011 @ 23:43:13
Hi Mrs BB,
I’m of Susan’s ilk. I have no idea about the Carbon Tax at all. Actually, to be absolutely truthful, whilst I know its name, this is the first I’ve actually read about it. Yes, I live in a bubble, I rarely read an up to date newspaper, watch the news, or listen to the radio. Scary to think that I vote isn’t it? I am lucky to know who the PM is, and I don’t know who the Premier of NSW is or any of our representatives.
My husband was having a similar rant about it today whilst I was (trapped) in the car with him. I had to concede that I knew nothing about the tax and couldn’t give an opinion one way or the other. See, if I’d only read this blog 6 hours ago, I could’ve sounded knowledgeable, (and cranky!).
What I will say about global warming/carbon tax, is that any attempts by anyone, to extend this precious Earth’s existence by even a nanosecond longer that the Good Lord has ordained, is seriously delusional.
My state of ignorance is bliss….although quite maddening to those around me, I’ve been told.
As always,
Heidi

Saucy!!
Oct 14, 2011 @ 23:45:20
Hi (again)…
“people swapping” what on earth is that about?
Heidi
Oct 15, 2011 @ 19:26:36
Heidi, love, don’t get excited. It does NOT mean that you can take errant children, annoying neighbours, or your in-laws to a depot and swap them for a newer, more congenial model. (sadly.)
It was a piece of legislation that was being peddled for the third time by this government that dealt with our (now complete lack of) border protection.
Here is Gillard’s own words describing the plan:
“”We would take more refugees from Malaysia, people who have waited literally for years for an appropriate resettlement opportunity, but we would transfer to Malaysia people who have arrived here unauthorised, to send a message: don’t get on that leaky boat, to smash the people-smugglers business model,” Ms Gillard said.
What she doesn’t mention is that for taking the 800 people who arrived in Australia illegally, Malaysia, in return, were going to send us 4000 refugees of theirs. Sounds like a dream deal, doesn’t it? (Choke! The woman is a genius at maths…)
But thankfully enough of her own party publicly announced their intention to bail on her that she pulled the pin on putting it to the vote.
If the shame of a female Prime Minister with a live in hairdresser boyfriend and a voice that defies (polite) description, were not enough, her political performance should put every Australian to the blush.
Oct 15, 2011 @ 09:44:34
The whole notion of man made climate change would be laughable if some many people didn’t adopt it as there religion. No offence intended. The NZ government bringing in a Carbon Trading Emission scheme has helped to drain money from the economy at a time like this.
Could anything stupider have happened?
Oct 15, 2011 @ 19:29:41
Luke, no. No, there is nothing stupider. It beggars belief.
Our countries are clearly NOT being run by rational people.
Thanks for coming to visit.
