Perfect after dinner with coffee or as a gift for someone special, these handcrafted truffles are the epitome of chocolate indulgence.
You will need:
- 400 grams of quality dark chocolate
- 1 tbs butter
- 1 x 400gm tin of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 x 200gm packet of crushed nuts
- 125 grams roasted hazelnuts for centre (optional)*
- 300 grams extra chocolate to coat (milk or dark, depending on preference)
- Melt chocolate by preferred method (over steam or in the microwave)
- Add butter and condensed milk, mix.

- Allow to chill until a manageable consistency.
- Form into balls (a 1/2 tbls measure is a perfect size) and press nut into centre.
- Roll in crushed nuts.

- Dip in melted chocolate, place on trays lined with baking paper.**

- Place in the refrigerator to cool.
*To roast hazelnuts, place on a tray in medium oven (180) for about 10-15mins, shaking occasionally. Roll in clean cloth to remove skins.
** If working in warm conditions, place trays in freezer before starting work
The recipe was created by my sister, a worthy gastronome, and will make approximately 70 truffles.
Enjoy!

Oh get out! Tell me these aren’t your pictures? Wow, they look superduper delicious.
Dec 08, 2008 @ 07:16:57
You like? I am a teensy bit….o.k. I am a WORLD of excited because my sweetheart bought me a new camera!
(add to it that I also now have a fridge full of truffles, and my joy is complete
)

Mrs BB you have a very serious chocolate issue. Fancy going to all that trouble just to enjoy a bit of chocolate?
Although, they do look awfully good.
Dec 08, 2008 @ 10:11:17
Mrs BB, these little babies look seriously scrumptous
But please tell me, how come you are as little as you are? LOL, some women have it all… ability to feed their chocolate addiction with little or no consequences, new camera, iphone, and brains!
Dec 08, 2008 @ 10:55:21
MM, dear, of course I have serious chocolate issues! I am very health conscious.
Beans are a very important part of a balanced diet. You did know that chocolate was made from beans? And when you balance your cocoa beans with your coffee beans – you have a moment of perfect, blissful balance
Mrs Pearls of Truth, all jesting aside, I do believe the secret of eating chocolate while maintaining a healthful weight has nothing to do with moderation, and is all to do with eating DARK chocolate. Somehow that stuff just doesn’t stick to the same places as
pretendmilk chocolate does! The new camera? I’d like to say I deserve it or even that my talent warrants it, but I think perhaps my dh just enjoys the idea of lugging around another 10kgs of gear while bushwalking! …builds his stamina and increases his fitness after all those truffles
If you remember the iphone drama details, you might recall I knocked back the offer of the iphone…
….which calls into question that last facility you attributed me with
Dec 08, 2008 @ 11:33:00
oh dear, how remiss of me! I remember now that you mention it (about iphone). Those things look way to technical for my brain cells
I think I need to go to the grocery store and hunt out some dark chocolate… I knew I was doing something wrong!! sniff, sniff, farewell milk chocolate…
Dec 08, 2008 @ 14:08:05
An iphone? Did you blog about having an iphone? Did I miss it? Oh now you’ve gone and done it. I just can’t stand it. I’ve been wanting an iphone since I first heard about them…I’ve touched one, caressed it, held it longingly in my hands but I had to give it back to the salesman. It seems he wouldn’t approve of me taking it home without paying for it.
I mean, who cares about a new camera when one has an iphone? Maybe, just maybe my hubby might get me an Agora – a google phone, when they’re released. They apparently going to be several hundred dollars cheaper so I live in hope.
oh BB, I am so jealous. I don’t want to be but I can’t help myself. Please pray for me to
get an iphone,er to not be so jealous.Dec 08, 2008 @ 15:12:26
LOL! You are such a crack up, you bad woman. I do NOT have an iphone, and if I did, I am NOT the sort of person to blog about it! (aww, I might be tempted to blog about wurdle..) However, I did share my tragic, the-one-that-got-away iphone story with Dandelionmom over here:
http://dandelionmom.wordpress.com/2008/12/01/aaaaack-a-tag/
It’s a very sad story. If you’re going over for a look, take the kleenex. I know you’ll feel for me sister.
Dec 08, 2008 @ 21:35:56
LOL, this comment thread is a crack up….those truffles look great Mrs BB….if the weather stays cool I might give them a whirl….or set up a kitchen in my air conditioned bedroom!
Seeing as you have a new camera to take photos of the yummy food ideas, have you ever checked out Pioneer Woman?
She has a great blog with a whole section just for food and another for photography….and homeschooling…and more…
http://www.thepioneerwoman.com
Off to check out the Iphone story….I’m with Susan…I’d love one but I’ll settle for a Ipod!
And to Mrs Pearls of Wisdom…give up the milk chocolate and settle for the dark…soooo much better for you and tastes divine!

My dear Mrs Homemeadow,
I’m trying to take a positive spin on my reading http://www.thepoineerwoman.com.
I am trying to think of it as something to aspire to, rather than to feel completely inadequate as a blogger and photographer!
What a cool blog!
Hey Our Susan and PearlyGirly, you should check out the pioneerwoman. Never mind slim, has an iphone, etc., what about this lady who takes superb photographs, obviously does not struggle with technical things, and is even funny.
Yep. It’s official.
It’s my turn to be green
Dec 09, 2008 @ 09:22:31
Please don’t tell me about such blogs… please! I spend enough time on the computer already! Gosh, I could just read and read all day! She has about 15 parts/posts just on how she met her hubby! (and I love those stories, but do I really need to know? but I can’t help myself, aaaackkk!)
Hey, don’t worry BB, I bet she can’t debate like you can, AND still make perfect sense!!
Dec 09, 2008 @ 10:40:03
I merely post about PW to give some inspiration for your love of photography….

I know lovely friend, and it looks like it will be a very helpful site. She has a few “explaining” type photo posts that I think will be very helpful. I’m wandering back over there this morning while all is nice and quiet and the little folk are asleep, in the hopes that some of it may “stick” if I have the opportunity to read it uninterrupted.
Dec 10, 2008 @ 07:14:00
I’ll head back to the site today to have a look. I tried yesterday but our broadband had been shaped to that of dial-up speed and the page just wouldn’t load. I did a speed test on it and the page is HUGE – graphic intensive and takes a long time to load, so I had to click out of it.
DH had to upgrade our broadband to the next level. That’s sad.
Dec 11, 2008 @ 12:01:51
You had to upgrade your broadband? Blossom, my heart is bleeding for you
Now that you won’t have to make a cuppa while the page loads (unlike a certain of your peers, sniff!) it’s worth having a look at her photography section if your interest lies in that direction. (Thanks Lisa!)
And while I don’t recommend doing so in the small hours of the morning unless there is no other time for a mother to get peace, I did learn a lot (aye, and remember it for a change!) having taken the luxurious step of reading the tutorials while the children slept.

Okay Mrs BB. I’m pleased to report that I FINALLY made your truffles – and they were SENSATIONAL!!! Everybody is raving about them, and asking for the recipe…. If you’re reading this comment and haven’t had a go at making these – DO IT – DO IT NOW!!!! [Only maybe don't make them as large as I made mine!!]

Well Sweetie, make sure you keep up your dancing – those truffles are just pure addiction material aren’t they?
I’m glad they were a hit for you. I’ve always found them to be very popular…what’s left of them after I’ve “sampled” them, that is
Feb 08, 2009 @ 16:41:17
All kind of relish on your site!
Untill I finish to arrange the stuff with Caltrava I published something with a great-great american architect: Frank Lloyd Wright.
And more bridges. All the best, Dan
Feb 08, 2009 @ 22:39:09
Thank you Dan, I will be over soon for a look at the next lot of bridges. I was reminded of you today: I purchased a dining set manufactured by Mobex, and was surprised to find it was made in Romania.
